Who are we?

A full service professional communications agency, Hyphen was founded by two Aucklanders, Rebecca McGarry and Clare Chapman. Together, they have experience spanning more than three decades, four countries and countless sectors.

Our Founders

Clare Chapman

A qualified journalist, editor and communications professional, Clare started her career as a daily news journalist, working in places as diverse as Far North Queensland and Waikato.

Since then, she’s specialised in editing, marketing communications and public relations. Her work has appeared in books and publications around the world; she’s edited commercial publications, and worked as a consultant for commercial enterprises and NFPs.

Clare’s passion is working with clients to develop strategic, compelling content designed to drive business, win awards and deliver a meaningful editorial presence.

Rebecca McGarry

With a Master of Arts and postgraduate qualifications in business and communications, Rebecca brings 15 years’ experience in business writing, proofreading/editing and tender writing roles for charities, government organisations and a broad range of private sector clients.

She has successfully developed company attributes, quality manuals and written and project managed award submissions, business cases and hundreds of bids across a wide range of industries, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
